Here’s something I just came across that I found fascinating: An open source, cross platform implementation of the .NET Framework called Mono . The most amazing thing mentioned on this site is that Microsoft is (unofficially) cooperating with this project. This could lead to .NET applications running on Macs, Linux, non-Pocket PC based cell phones, etc.
