Phidgets

Friday, February 3rd, 2006

This is something that seems to be gaining alot of attention. I learned about it on an AP Computer Science listserv that I follow.

Phidgets are a set of a bunch of sensors, motors and other electronic devices that can easily be connected and programmed via a USB connection.

I’ve got a starter kit on order from the company. We’ll see if I can come up with something interested to teach my compsci students.

Bonus: It’s a Canadian-based company!

Take your Apps with you

Check this out… They’ve taken bunch of open source applications like FireFox, OpenOffice, Filezilla (all applications I use) and have converted them to run from a USB key or other storage device. That means you can carry around these applications with all their settings. Nice!
