Quick Bio

Mike is a technologist, adventurer, and family man from Ontario, Canada.

Starting in June 1st, 2009, Mike joined THINK Global School as Chief Technology Officer where he is building out the technology platform for their amazing new education initiative.

For the 9 years before that, he work as the Executive Director of Information Technology of an independent school in Oakville, Ontario, developing the school’s technology capabilities and integration into the curriculum.  Starting in 1998, this was the first secondary school in Canada to implement a school-wide 1:1 Laptop to Student program.  Mike was responsible for growth and development of this program, raising the bar for how technology can be implemented and managed in schools.  Mike also has had numerous consulting engagements at various schools advising on how technology can be best supported and integrated into a school’s curriculum.  Before working in education, he worked for IBM Canada as a technology consultant working on engagements with a variety of large and medium-sized companies including Royal Bank, Rogers, and Ford.

He is happily married and the father of three wonderful kids (1, 3 and 7 years old).

When not reading about, writing about, evangelizing, defending, cursing technology or chasing around his kids, Mike loves adventure. He is an avid road & mountain biker, trail runner and orienteering competitor. For fun and focus, he competes in all kinds of racing events including trail running (5 Peaks), mountain bike racing, 24 hour mountain bike racing (24 Hours Summer Solstice), adventure racing (Salomon Adventure Challenge, Raid The North, Storm the Trent, Don’t Get Lost).

To add to his eclectic mix of skills and experiences, he also, believe it or not, has a 2nd degree black belt in Karate, has been a stuntman (twice), can juggle, make balloon animals and has his SCUBA diving certification.
